The Sodbury Jazz Festival began in 2011, hosted by Sodbury Chamber of Commerce as a way of attracting people into our town and also to bring top-class professional artistes to perform here at affordable prices.
It played host to Kenny Ball, Jacqui Dankworth, Digby Fairweather, Acker Bilk and His Paramount Jazz Band, Pete Allen, Swinging at the Cotton Club, Brian Carrick's International New Orleans Band and Clare Teal – not to mention a host of musicians from across the region.
There was no budget for the event, which relied on the success of the concerts to fund themselves, whilst local hostelries and businesses funded their own entertainment.
In 2014 the music mix was extended to incorporate Blues and the Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury took over hosting.
