Merry Christmas, everyone!
Here it is — your final festive round-up, and a fond farewell from me.
MySodbury.co.uk will close at the end of 2025. For nearly twenty years, thanks to your submissions and support, the website has championed local events, organisations, and businesses. However long you’ve been with us, thank you for being part of the journey — it has been a privilege to celebrate this community with you.
In the meantime, take a seasonal stroll through the full line-up of Chipping Sodbury’s sparkling celebrations in our Christmas feature.
Get into the festive spirit with St John’s Church’s Crib Festival, an inspiring collection of nativity cribs from home and abroad, complete with music, craft activities, and delicious homemade cakes.
Give the gift of reading this Christmas: gather ideas for your present list — as well as enjoying great cake and company — at Hawkesbury Upton Literature Festival’s Christmas Special. Then pick up more gifts as you wander beneath the town’s twinkling lights during Sodbury Chamber’s Late Night Christmas Shopping Evening. Don’t forget: their calendars make great presents for posting overseas.
Head to Broad Street for a full day of entertainment and the original Santa Float on Chipping Sodbury Christmas Sunday.
Music lovers are spoilt for choice this December. At the Town Hall, Yate Choral Society brings familiar carols to life in a joyful evening of song, and later in the month the venue transforms once again for Countdown to Christmas — a lively musical journey through festive favourites.
As always, our churches invite us to share the joy of Christmas: bring little ones to Christingle services, and join a welcoming Christmas morning communion.
Finally, ring in 2026 in style at the New Year’s Eve Ball.
Beyond January, I’ll continue running MyThornbury.co.uk. Please do get in touch if you have a business or event to advertise there — and if you’d like to follow my fiction writing, you can sign up for my newsletter here.
With very best wishes,
Claire
